Puppies are cute when we look them at the first time we want to buy one. But many people don’t realize what responsible are waiting for them when they have brought the puppy home. Puppies will grow big to be dogs and getting stronger and sometimes not cute anymore or even annoying if not trained well. Many people still don’t know what are the pros and cons to have a dog as a pet, so in this article I will share some of it from what I read.

Here are the pros of having a dog as a pet.

Dogs give health benefit to their owner. In a study of dog owner health, it is proven that most of dog owners are having healthier body than people who are not having a dog. This is because dog has the need to have exercise to release their energy to maintain good health condition. So at least dogs need to be walked everyday by their owner which can lead the owner a healthy lifestyle. Usually dog walking is done at the morning when the air is at the best condition which has not been polluted. Having a dog also good for relaxation, because dogs are cute and amusing. When you came home from the stressful day at work and having your dog waiting and greet you at front door, this can make you happy.

Dog are entertaining. Dog always fun for us. They can learn many games and tricks to play with the owner and all the family members especially the kids. Dogs can play catching ball and Frisbee, swim at the lake, run on the beach, play hide and seek, pulling the cart and doing dog training together in joy. Sometimes dogs also doing something funny at house which make all the family member happy.

Dogs love to make their owner happy. Dogs are made to serve their master in the pack. In wild life they will obey the alpha dog of the pack. As a pet in a family they will serve and obey their owner as the leader of the pack. Dogs

love to have training. Command a dog to stay, sit, come, roll over, catch a ball, give the paw and any other tricks needed and your dog will try as hard as they can to learn it and make you happy. Dogs never choose a job and complain to the owner, they will do anything we ask, whether it is a hard or easy job because it is deep in their genes that they need to work to make their owner happy.

Dogs are easy to be socialized. Dog is a social pet which means you can take him to any new place without having any trouble as long as you are going with him. In fact dogs love to walk with their owner and do not really care about the destination. In wild life dogs move a lot to fulfill their need to search for food and often to stay at different places with their packs. Territory is not priority for dogs, they only need to stay along with their packs and leader.

Dogs are very faithful to their owner. Dogs are man best friend. This is not a joke sentences, dogs can follow their owner anywhere without complaining a word. They will do anything to please the owner and will give the unconditional love to the owner even they are sometimes treated badly by the owner. Some cases said that dogs sometimes have even died from the sorrow following their owner’s death.

Above are the pros to have a dog as your pet at house and now these below are the cons.

Dogs got strong teeth and chewing habit. Dog need a chew toys or bones to play with otherwise they will chew your thing like, shoes, sofa, pillow, table leg and other furniture. This dog chewing habit can destroy your house if left untrained. Chewing training need to be trained since puppy or dog still will chew for the rest of his life. After been trained with obedience training or has been housebroken, most dog will know their boundaries and leave the furniture and start playing their own toys.

Dogs can suffer from separation anxiety. Dogs can not be left alone for long time, it can make the dog having mental problems in the future. Dog is very depending to their owner, they need a leader. Dogs live in packs in nature life with a leader that organizes the members. That’s why as a pet they acknowledge you,  the owner as the leader and depends so much on you to take care of them.

Dogs need exercise. Almost every dog breed needs exercise, walking everyday at least if the owner doesn’t have that much time to train the dog personally. In fact every dogs need bowel movement everyday for health

reason, that’s why you need to take the dog out for walk for quite a time everyday whether it is shine, rain and snow. Some people decided to hire a dog walker because they don’t have the time or lazy to do it. But it will make other unnecessary expenses for you.

Dogs need daily care from their owner. Having a dog is not an easy task, so we must be prepared before deciding to have a dog. Dogs will need to be trained basic dog training like obedience training, sit stay fetch training, potty training, leash training and agility training for better health. They also need to have grooming sessions to have healthier skin and keep the fur nice and clean. Dogs need a lot of vaccination to keep their body away from diseases. So the conclusions are when having a dog means having a lot of expenses for the maintenance.
