Protection Dog – Characteristic of Protection Dog Breed

Get along and provides companionship with the owner and the whole family while doing the protection to the house and make the family members being safe are the characteristic of good protection dogs. If you are having a protection dog in your house, it will make you feel more safety in the night or when you are leaving the house. The dog can alert you from intruders and threatened them for trying to invade your house.

The characteristic of the dog is needed to be considered if you are going to have a protection dog. Some of the characteristics are the attitude of the dog towards strangers, ease of training from each dog breed, intelligence of the dog and the protection capabilities can be done by the dog.

It is better to have puppy to be trained to become a protection dog than adult one, because in fact adult dog is harder to be trained with the habit it carries since puppy.

German Shepherd An Excellent Family Protection Dog

German Shepherds are very popular not only at United States but also in the most country as excellent protection dogs. These dogs are commonly trained to work with the police as protection dog, rescue dog and search for explosives and drugs. With their high intelligence they become the best partner for police and military units. German Shepherds are good with family and kids, very docile and protective one. Easy to be trained because they are very smart and quick learning dog.

Akita the Japanese Protection Dog

Akita breed is originally from Japan, brought by Helen Keller at 1937 to America for the first time. Used to be a protection and police dogs at Japan. Very brave dog, obedient, and good towards the kids and family members but so suspicious to strangers. Good choice for protection dog.

Rottweiler a Powerful Protection Dog

One of the best guards dog ever known is this Rottweiler breed. It has big size and weight, very powerful, imposing, obedient and easy to be trained. This dog was used in Germany to drive the cattle with his master.

This breed needs to be trained by professional trainer to be a good protection dog and also with proper socialization with human because with his power he can knock down a man so easily. When one of his family members are being attack or in danger, Rottweiler can be so overly protective because of they high loyalty.

Doberman Pinscher a Well Known Protection Dog

This breed is used by many of the police station and military unit as protection dogs and partners to work with. This Doberman Pinschers came from Germany at 1908 to United States and been popular as protection dog since then. This Doberman breed is not only have a threatened outlook but also fearless and obedient to his master. This dog is easy to be trained and have high loyalty to his master. This Doberman breed is a good choice for protecting your house.

Bullmastiff a Big Protection Dog

This dog is a cross breed between Mastiffs breed and Bulldogs breed. This Bullmastiff was used by people to watch and catch poachers. This dog has quiet characteristic and very suitable for family protection dog. It is a tame dog but can become very scary and fearless in guarding situation. Good companion for kids that being raised together with the dogs. But Bullmastiff can be raised and lived well with another Mastiff.

Puli Protection WatchDog

Although Puli is a medium sized protection dog, you can’t look down on him. These Hungarian Dogs are very aggressive and well known as good watchdogs. They bark very loudly to alert the owner and threaten the intruders. This breed can’t get along with other dogs.

Remember the protection dogs need proper training with the professional trainer to become good protection dogs. Better to train them at young age. Obedience training is one of the most crucial steps for protection dogs to learn.

Get your family members involved in training for better result in protecting the whole family. Protection dogs not only make the home secured but also bring affection and love to family members. As the dogs are well known to be “The Man’s Best Friends”.
