Bark Control – Guide to Control Excessive Barking

In fact every dog barking has different meaning. For basic bark it could be because they are hungry or thirsty. For guard dogs they want to alert the owner if someone crosses the dog’s territory that they protect. In daily activities the dogs may want to get your attention, want to play with you or sometimes they just get bored. Others maybe for weather reason, they get too cold or hot and maybe the dogs just get excited with something.

It is natural for dogs to bark. It is their way to communicate with us human and other dogs. So natural barking should not become problem to the owner and neighborhood. But the bark can be big trouble for you if the dogs are barking excessively. Then you need bark control for your dog.

Here are a few bark control guide for your dog.

First on bark control. Be the dogs. Means you need to think as a dog to understand more about why they are barking. You may imagine the dog is like your baby just to make it easier.

As I said before dogs bark for many reason, these are what we need to observe for bark control. When we know what is motivating the dog to bark, just remove it or make the dog not to encounter with the motivator.

Second guide. You can try to invest on dog bark collar. It is proven effective and humane to dog. There is several type of bark collar, most popular is citronella and shock collar.

For citronella bark control it will spray citronella scent which dog hate but mean nothing for us when dog barks. Shock bark control will deliver a static shock to the dog when the dog is starting to bark or other type it controlled by the owner with a remote.

Remember the bark collar is just dog equipment for training. So you need to train the dog to use the collar effectively.

There is another bark control device that can be installed outside you house. When dog barks, it will set off the device and send out an ultrasonic sound wave with 130db power. The sound wave only affects on dogs, so no need to worry it can damage our ear. You won’t even hear any single sound. In this way the dog will learn when they bark they’ll get blasted.

Third bark control guide. Train the dog to bark on command which also means to be quiet on command. This bark control training will take time and patience but also give the best result. Using treats and reward for training bark control is very recommended one.

For this training you can learn it from many dog training books and maybe attended some classes or have a trainer when you don’t have much time. The advantage of this training that it can make the bond between you and your dog stronger.
